"Healthcare Not Warfare" Speakout by a great number
of AIDS activists against the Gulf War (1991) and for better healthcare.
Concludes with footage documentation from ACT UP's "Day
of Desperation" demonstration on 1/23/91.This tape almost
cost Gregg Bordowitz and Jean Carlomusto their jobs at GMHC (as
producers of the "Living with AIDS" series) because
certain people thought that expressing political opinions that
were "not related to AIDS" would endanger GMHC's funding.
Gregg and Jean were defended by Tim Sweeney, Executive Director
of GMHC. 1991, 00:29:00
01317
Ray [Navarro's] Memorial Tape, Videotape obituary made for Ray
Navarro's Memorial Service.Ray Navarro was an early member of

"Office Take-Over Action Against Daiichi" Office Take-Over
civil disobedience action against Daiichi Pharmaceuticals by members
of WHAM (Women's Health Action Mobilization), ACT UP and TAG (Treatment
Action Group). [tape ends abuptly at 40 min.]Tape date labled
only as "10/29" (but PROBABLY 1992)[It can be noted
that this office take-over utilized the tactic of activists handcuffing
themselves together inside PVC tubing (from a "Greenpeace"
tactic); CBS "60 Minutes" was also documenting this
action, particularly focusing on long-time ACT UP member Bob Rafsky
shortly before he died February 1993.], 10/29/ 92(?), 00:40:00
01326
ACT UP Pre-Action Meetings (Target City Hall), Contains ACT UP
Poster-Making Party (with Larry Kramer) on 3/25/89 (first 4 minutes);
Civil Disobedience Training Session; and (beginning at 18-minutes)
ACT UP Pre-Action Meeting (3/27/89) for Target City Hall Demonstration.[from
the ACT UP/NY Capsule History: ]March 28, 1989 -- ACT UP's second
anniversary protest draws 3,000 to New York's City Hall, making
"Target City Hall" the largest AIDS activist demonstration
to date. ACT UP protests the inadequacy of New York's AIDS policy
under Mayor Edward Koch. About 200 activists are arrested., 3/27/89,
00:60:00
01329 and 1330
"TAG's Astra Action" TAG (Treatment Action Group) Pre-Action
Meeting and Civil Disobedience Action at Astra Pharmaceuticals
protesting the "astronomical" high price of an anti-CMV
drug, Foscavir, to prevent blindness in PWAs. TAG and some ACT
UP/New York & Boston Activists utilized Greenpeace tactics
by chaining themselves under parked trucks to block the entrances
to Astra.tape date labeled only as "1/27" (probably
1992).Early portions of this tape contains alot of BLACK (with
sound continuing) because it was shot inside the back of a cargo
truck smuggling activists to site.[note: this was also filmed
by CBS News crew for "60 Minutes" featuring long-time
ACT UP activist Bob Rafsky.], 1/27/(92?) 2-hours
